The Town of Murdochville is resolutely oriented to economic repositioning and offers business opportunities in the renewable energy, recreational tourism and new information and communication technologies sectors.
Now known as the national wind energy capitol with its production of 162 MW conjugated with R/D activities on wind energy production in a Nordic climate, Murdochville is becoming a veritable Canadian wind energy center with high-tech industrial research and development facilities.

Murdochville offers an impressive variety of recreotourism equipment and activities over its territory and is gradually taking its place on the regional tourism scene. Citizens and tourists are ensured an interesting quality of life in Murdochville with its golf course, downhill ski center, copper interpretation center (new showroom in June 2005), Lac York outdoor activity center, a variety of recreational trails (snowmobiling, ATV activities, hiking, horseback riding, dog sledding, etc.) and a curling club, amongst other infrastructures.
The Town of Murdochville is situated at the heart of the Gaspésie. One can reach it by the northern shore of the peninsula via route 132, then taking route 198 from Anse-Pleureuse toward Gaspé.
